Marvel! Maine's Virtual Library 

MARVEL! From the Homepage select “Science & Technology” from the list on the left.  From the list of databases choose Access Science : McGraw-Hill Encyclopedia of science and Technology.  Type in your topic in the search box.

Get the password and log-in from your library

Login on the home page. Click on the Science link. Type in your topic in the keyword search.  Scroll list and click on most useful site.

Google

Google is the most commonly used search engine and is the only one available which does not rate the relevancy of your search terms paired with payments from its advertisers. The bottom line is you will get a list of more relevant items from Google than from other standard search engines.

SCIRUS

Scirus is a specialized search engine for scientific information only. Search engines are all different in the Web sites they cover, and the way they classify these Web sites. Scirus, the search engine for science, focuses only on Web pages containing scientific content.

·        Before beginning your search, de-select “All journal sources.” 

·        Leave “All web sources” selected.

Household ProductsDatabase

Health and safety information on household products. Each product lists brand name, manufacturer, health effects, handling and disposal and chemical ingredients.
