The Dirigo High School Library Media Center is located down the North hall from the business office, directly across from the computer lab on the main floor. It houses approximately 10,000 items including an audio visual collection of over 800 curriculum related titles. Books consist of 50% non-fiction, 35%  fiction, and 15% reference.. The  There are approximately 50 magazines and newspaper titles available for research as well as leisure reading.
 A small  lab consisting of 10 computers provides in-library access to the online card catalog as well as word processing,  multimedia production, and the internet.  Two additional computers provide delegated card catalog stations. A reference room provides an area for tutoring and quiet study.

InfoCentre automated card catalog for easy and complete searching from school or home.

MARVEL : Online databases from the Maine INFONet system. (over 40 databases provide full-text information from magazines, journals, newspapers, pamphlets, and other print resources).

Reference Materials which are accurate, up-to-date and support the curriculum.

Book Collection that supports the curriculum and provides free reading options.

Periodicals that supply students and staff with current information for research as well as opportunities for leisure reading.

Audio Visual Collection provides staff with supportive curriculum related resources in the form of VCR tapes and DVD's.

Audio Books provides students with an alternative media for appreciating literature.

Internet access provides students and staff information from the World Wide Web.

Facts on File - American History Online and Modern World History Online subscription databases.

Opposing Viewpoints Resource Center - A subscription database providing comprehensive articles on thousands of topics.

Library Web Page keeps students, staff, and families up-to-date on current library programs and acquisitions.

Book Club Wiki - Keeps book club members up to date on what we are reading.

  The Dirigo High School Media Center will provide a quality program of integrated educational media and technology to support the curriculum and goals of the SAD # 21 schools. Our goal is to work towards an interactive learning process that includes articulating needs and fostering information literacy, the ability to locate, evaluate, organize, and use information effectively.  This is a shared responsibility and collaboration between teachers and media staff in all content areas.

Mrs. Veayo works 3/4 time in the library and 1/4 time in the learning labs. She lives in Livermore Falls and also works at Barnes and Noble bookstore in Augusta.  
Graduate - Winthrop High School 
BS in Library Science - University of Maine, Augusta 2007.
 
Student Library Aide
Students may apply to Mrs. Archard to become library aides. Each aide receives .5 credit hours towards graduation. This job offers a wide variety of opportunities to learn and practice skills that will be valuable in the academic world as well as the workplace.
